Rob Roy MacGreggor's Spirit

With our departure day tomorrow, I am determined not to overload the kids. We've been waking them up steadily earlier each morning in hopes of helping them avoid jet lag in London. Yesterday's early morning invovled a pre-breakfast card game. This morning we got them up, marched them down to the pond and did early morning tai chi stretches. The kids were grumpy, but game enough. As we stood arrayed around the pond as dawn broke, a giant flock of birds passed overhead. It was really beautiful.

When the kids seemed more awake, we took them into the Black Box to show them parts of the movie Rob Roy. I thought it might be a good way to set the stage for the subtle "England vs. Scotland" tensions that will crop up as we meet our various tour guides in the UK. Plus, there's that great swordfight at the end!

With the rest of our day, we worked on last-minute tech projects like the new grandfather clock, the High Street banner, the sceen panels...there's so much to do and not a ton of time.

We run the show for the last time stateside and I start to relax. We've got an interesting show that has something to say in an international festival.

Finally, I wanted to make a not of how nice everyone on campus has been to us this week. From the faculty and Mr. Hershey's kind comments and friendly chats with the kids to Donna Dhue sending over plates of cookies to the dorm every night, we have been so well cared for.

Tomorrow we push the jet lag cure as far as we can by getting up at 4:00am! If that doesn't get our kids to fall asleep on the plane, noting will!
