Awards, Awards

Here's the email that was sent to the school after the Gala:

This week, EHS MainStage has been in Greensboro, NC at the South East Theater Conference. The gathering is considered "The Best of the Best" of high school theaters in the South. Over 2 days, a total of 20 schools competed, each having earned the right to represent their respective state by winning state-level competitions in the fall. The SETC is the largest multi-state theater competition in the country. All sizes and types of schools were participating, including 6 magnet performing arts schools and 10 large public schools. EHS, one of only 3 Independent schools involved, was the smallest school in the event.

EHS's performance of The Comedy of Errors was incredibly well received by the audience and the judges. At an event where the level of competition was so strong, we were honored just to perform. We were not expecting to win the following major awards:

Best Supporting Actor: Lenin Cruz

The top 4 actors in the competition were named Best Actor/ Best Actress/ Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress.

All Star Cast: Julia Messenger

There were around 400 actors in the festival. 35 were designated as All Star Cast.

Best Costumes; EHS

Most of the other schools with excellent costumes have teams of "volunteer sewing moms." Ms. O'Connor designs and sews our costumes herself.

Superior Ratings: 3/3

All of the judges awarded our production with the highest possible rating

College Auditions: Brooke Webb

In a separate event, Brooke Webb received a whopping 39 callbacks for her audition monologue, getting interest from prestigious theaters like Vassar's Powerhouse Theater, The National Theatre Institute at the Eugene O'Neill Center, and the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art.

Congratulations to all involved and many thanks for the vital support we received from Ms. Fielder, Mr. deButts, Mr. Hodge, and Mr. Kehlenbrink.
