A Journey to the Trossachs!

Today, we woke up an hour early and filed onto a giant tour bus that was to take us into the Trossachs, a region at the gateway to the Highland mountains, where we saw beautiful hills, fields of sheep and flowers Bailey identified as thistles. After driving through cute little cobblestone towns that everyone was quick to describe as “quaint,” we arrived at a castle and walked where important Scottish noblemen once lived, dined and jailed their enemies.

To be honest, there were no dungeons, but there was in fact a moat. While the Art History buffs among us gawked at the architecture and symbolism within the tapestries, everyone else found something in the gift shop, like a coffee mug for mom, or toffee for the bus ride back. Leo gladly shared his ( ) with everyone, a kind of Scottish starburst that boasts strange flavors like pear and guava passion fruit. The food truck parked outside the castle sold flake ice cream, which was delicious, until our driver made us throw it away. At last, we climbed back onto the buses to return to Edinburgh, but found ourselves in a traffic jam that threatened a several hour delay. Instead of worrying about missing dinner and rehearsal, we stopped and fed some real Scottish cows.

Arriving back on campus with several hours to spare, we took the bus into town and grabbed food at a Falafel restaurant, which made a delicious Margarita pizza, I mean, for a Falafel restaurant. Overall, it was a great day chocked full of friends, fun and panorama-worthy landscapes.
