The Competition Begins!

Today was the first day of the High School competition. We performed in the third slot, so we got to see the first show. Where Have All the Lightning Bugs Gone was a two person show by Sumter High School, Suth Carolina. It was amazing. The actors switched between characters seamlessly. Once it was over, the judges gave comments.

Then, it was time for us to get ready for our show. It was a little hectic, but everything came together perfectly. Our costumes, made by our amazing director/costumer/set designer/bus driver Meg, looked amazing. The theater was a similar size to Pendleton, so the set fit perfectly on the stage. The show went well; no one forgot a line, the music cues were successful, and the audience laughed and cheered. After the show was over, we got feedback from the judges. They loved the way we told the story, but they wanted the show to feel less planned and more spontaneous.

After the comments, the audience cheered for us again! I am especially happy about our performance because we made the audience feel for our characters and what they went through. I am so proud of this cast. We all bring something special to this show and it went spectacularly.
